Welcome

UC Merced is seeking applications for the Fall 2025 University of California Merced Honors Program. This program is open to incoming first year, admitted students who will enroll in Fall 2025. UC Merced Honors is a program for students who want a signature undergraduate experience, that provides a home for a community of scholars who want to go beyond the GPA to create positive change in the world today. By providing resources and opportunities, our transformative program empowers students to lead, create, and forge their own path to success.

The Fall 2025 Honors Program application is now open. Please apply by February 2, 2025 for priority consideration. Applications will be reviewed until the program fills. This application may be completed in multiple sittings. You will want to take time to prepare for your submission. To do so, we encourage you to preview the application here honors.ucmerced.edu. Application components include:

• Three essay questions; responses must be kept to 75-150 words.

• Creative product (link and reflection): You will be asked to share and reflect on a creative product. The creative product should represent you and your values. It may be a picture, photo, written materials, research project, poem, song, story, map, video recording, or digital model. Creative products can also be solutions to problems or puzzles, something you built, or simply a new way to do something that you aspire to and want to share. Your creative project link must be a self-hosted file. This means that you need to upload your file to a file-sharing service such as Box.com, Google Drive, OneDrive or another where you can create a share link and provide it below. To test your share link, paste it into a private browsing window and see if you are able to view/download it.

Please submit a creative product of your own making that reflects your identity and your values. This needs to be an original product that you have created yourself. The committee is not interested in products altered or generated by AI.

This could be an image such as a drawing, painting, sculpture, or other artwork, a map, or a photo that you produced or modified. It could be a video, a sample of creative writing, a sound recording, musical composition, or a digital model. Creative products can also be solutions to problems, something you built, or simply a new way to do something that you aspire to and want to share with us.

You could also show your creativity through innovative coding or mathematical/logical interpretation of an interesting physical or social system or scientific application.

If you are submitting an original research paper that is co-authored, you must describe your contribution in your reflection piece.

Some things that are not considered creative products would be a commercial jigsaw puzzle that you put together, a paint by numbers picture, a photo that you did not take of yourself or modify.

Please ensure that the link to your creative product is publicly shared. Instructions to ensure links are shared correctly can be found directly on the application.

Please note: this field is for you to post a shared link to a file location that you host. This can be via several online sources that provide free storage, such as Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox etc. Once you have created your share link, please test it and paste it into this box.
